A friendly guide to the things parents, kids, and teachers ask us most — worlds & lessons, the Explanation Ladder, profiles & subscriptions, privacy, notifications, languages, and supported devices. If you don't find your answer, our founders read every message.
getXplain.ai is an AI-powered learning app for curious kids. Children explore 73+ themed worlds filled with 5,000+ short, story-driven lessons — from space and dinosaurs to fractions, code, and music — guided by Xplore, a purple alien who's trying to get home.
Every lesson is generated to fit the child's age, language, and what they've already mastered, so it always feels like an adventure rather than homework.
getXplain.ai is designed for kids ages 6 to 18. The reading level, examples, and visuals adapt to each child's profile age, so a six-year-old gets a very different version of "how does electricity work?" than a fifteen-year-old.
Parents and teachers use the same app to set up profiles and check progress — no separate accounts required.
Xplore is the friendly purple alien who shows up throughout the app — celebrating streaks, asking the next question, and reacting to answers. The big arc is simple: every lesson a child completes helps Xplore get one step closer to home. That tiny narrative is what turns "more practice" into "another mission".
Every question is broken into 2–10 bite-sized steps, climbing from the most basic idea up to the full answer. For "Why is the sky blue?" the ladder might be:
A child can't skip ahead — each rung checks understanding with a quick question before the next one unlocks. It's slow on purpose, because that's how things actually stick.
After the last rung, the AI re-asks the original question in three different ways. If your child can answer all three, mastery is confirmed and the lesson counts toward streaks, badges, and the daily challenge.
If they wobble on any of them, the ladder loops them back to the relevant step instead of just marking the lesson "done".
Each world is a themed pocket of the universe — Space, Dinosaurs, Coding, Music, Money, Climate, Ancient Egypt, and 65+ more. Inside every world, kids find a curated set of lessons with a consistent visual style and difficulty curve.

There are 500+ collectible badges covering subjects (e.g. Fraction Fixer), behaviour (e.g. 5-day streak), and exploration (e.g. visited 10 worlds).
Kids can join Squads — opt-in groups of friends or classmates — to appear on a friendly weekly leaderboard. Squads are kid-safe: no chat, no DMs, just shared streaks and badge totals.
A short, hand-picked lesson that refreshes every day. It usually takes 3–5 minutes, rewards a bonus badge, and keeps your child's streak alive. Great for the school-run or just-before-dinner moments.
Every profile has a progress page showing badges earned, worlds explored, current streak, and recent lessons. Parents also receive an optional weekly progress summary notification — toggle it on or off in Menu → Notification Settings.
Open Menu → Profiles → Add profile. You'll be asked for the child's first name, age, language, and avatar. Lessons immediately adapt to that age and language — no homework setup needed.
One adult account can host multiple child profiles on the same device.
Tap the avatar in the top-left of the home screen, then pick a profile. If parent PIN is enabled, you'll be asked to enter it before switching into the parent profile — kids can hop between their own profiles freely.
A 4-digit PIN that gates parent-only actions: changing subscription, opening the paywall, editing profile details, deleting a profile, and signing out. Set or change it under Menu → Profiles → Parent PIN.
If you forget it, signing out and back in resets it.
Menu → Profiles → tap the profile → Edit. You can change the name, age, language, and avatar at any time. Progress, badges, and streaks are preserved.
Yes, free to start. Every new family gets a generous pool of lessons, the Daily Challenge, and full access to several starter worlds. After that, a subscription unlocks the rest of the catalogue and removes any daily limits.
There are no ads — paid or free.
When the free pool runs out, or when a child opens a world that requires the full subscription. The paywall is parent-gated: kids can see "unlock more lessons" but cannot complete the purchase without an adult signing in to the App Store or Play Store.
Sign in with the same getXplain account, then open Menu → Subscription → Restore purchases. Make sure you're also signed in to the App Store / Play Store with the account that originally bought the subscription.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so they're managed from the same place as any other in-app subscription on your device:
Cancelling stops the next renewal but keeps access running until the end of the current billing period.
No ads. Ever. getXplain.ai does not sell ad space, and we do not run third-party advertising or behavioural-targeting trackers in the kids' experience.
Yes. We follow COPPA (US) and GDPR / UK-GDPR for handling children's data. We collect only what's required to run the app — no location, no contacts, no microphone access — and we never sell personal information.
Full details in our Privacy Policy.
Every lesson is generated through a curriculum-aware pipeline with safety guard-rails, age-appropriate vocabulary, and a strict "no scary, sexual, violent or politically charged content" policy. Children can't free-chat with the AI — they only interact with the structured Explanation Ladder and multiple-choice checks.
From Menu → Profiles a parent can:
By default, the app sends a small, predictable set:
No marketing spam. No "kid hasn't opened the app in 3 days" guilt-trips.
Open Menu → Notification Settings. You'll see a global switch and per-profile toggles for each notification type. The app respects whatever you set at the OS level too (iOS Settings → Notifications, or Android system settings).
We support 10+ languages including English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Dutch, and Russian. New languages are added regularly — let us know which one you'd like next.
The default app language is en-US, and each child profile can use a different language from the parent account.
Menu → Profiles → tap the profile → Edit → Language. The lessons your child sees next will already be in the new language.
getXplain.ai runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android phones & tablets. There is no web app and no desktop build — kids learn best on a focused, full-screen mobile experience.
The boring-but-usually-fixes-it checklist:
If none of that helps, ping us — see the contact section below.
Sign-in is handled by WorkOS — you'll typically use a magic email link or your Apple / Google account. We never store a password ourselves.
Open the menu (bottom-right tab → Menu) and scroll to the bottom — there's a red Sign out row. If parent PIN is enabled, you'll be asked for it first.
Menu → Profiles → tap the profile → Delete profile. This removes the child's progress, badges, and streaks immediately. Your other profiles and your subscription are not affected.
Use our dedicated self-service page: getxplain.ai/delete-account. It walks you through identity verification and irreversibly deletes the parent account, every child profile, all progress, and any saved billing reference.
Cancelling the subscription in the App Store / Play Store is a separate, recommended step — see the Subscriptions section above.
Yes. We work with primary and secondary schools to set up classroom-mode profiles, bulk seats, and basic curriculum alignment so teachers can map lessons to their local syllabus. Reach out to tarek@getxplain.ai and we'll walk you through it.
There is no support queue. Your message lands in one of our inboxes, and we usually reply the same day.
